Against Kolkata Knight Riders, Arjun Tendulkar makes his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians.

Arjun's debut was one of the most awaited debuts in IPL; considering, he is a son of world most celebrated cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Mumbai Indians had bought him at 30 lakhs in 2022 IPL auction, however he was the part of the squad but did not play any match. MI had also retained Arjun in the mini-auction of 2023.

Arjun Tendulkar was given the MI cap by Rohit Sharma when he replaced Arshad Khan in the starting XI. Arjun Tendulkar is the son of great batter and Mumbai Indians coach Sachin Tendulkar. MI purchased the left-arm bowler at his basic price of Rs. 30 lakh during the IPL 2022 auction and kept him for the IPL 2023. At the IPL 2021 auction, MI first purchased Arjun for his basic price of Rs 20 lakh.

Notably, an injury during the second half of the competition in the UAE forced Arjun to withdraw from the IPL 2021 season. Throughout the entire season, he did not participate in a single game. In December of last year, Arjun was also picked to Mumbai's inaugural Ranji Trophy squad as the left-arm pacer in the team captained by Prithvi Shaw. Arjun, who can also bat in the bottom order, travelled to England in 2019 to play for MCC Young Cricketers.

Despite having started his cricket career in Mumbai, Arjun moved there for more consistent playing time, and while playing for them in the Ranji Trophy, he grabbed 12 wickets in seven games. The 23-year-old all-rounder showed off his batting skills as well, hitting his first century in a first-class game. He grabbed 10 wickets in seven games during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which was his best performance.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (captain), Venkatesh Iyer, N Jagadeesan, Nitish Rana (playing XI), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, and Varun Chakaravarthy are the members of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ishan Kishan, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Arjun Tendulkar, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Riley Meredith are the members of the Mumbai Indians' starting XI.
