Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Officer Tufan Erginbilgic, discussing the British engineering company's plans to expand its activities in India.

In a social media post following the meeting, PM Modi expressed India's openness to deeper engagement with the aerospace and defense manufacturer.

"India welcomes Rolls-Royce's enthusiasm towards scaling up its activities in India and partnering with the innovative and dynamic youth of the nation," the Prime Minister said.

Rolls-Royce, a leading manufacturer of aircraft engines, power systems, and defense equipment, has maintained a significant presence in India. The company operates engineering and technology centers in the country and has been involved in supplying engines for both civil aviation and defense applications.

The meeting comes amid India's push to strengthen its aerospace and defense manufacturing capabilities under the 'Make in India' initiative. Rolls-Royce has previously expressed interest in establishing deeper manufacturing partnerships in India, potentially including engine component production and maintenance facilities.

The company's emphasis on partnering with India's youth aligns with the government's focus on skill development and creating employment opportunities in high-technology sectors.

India remains a significant market for Rolls-Royce, with its engines powering various aircraft in both military and civilian fleets. The meeting signals continued interest from global aerospace majors in tapping India's growing aviation market and manufacturing ecosystem.
