Rupee Gains 11 Paise to Close at 85.40 Against US Dollar
Currency recovers from early 8-paise loss as foreign banks and importers sell dollars despite sliding equity market;

The Rupee on Monday gained further by 11 paise to close at 85.40 against USD on brisk selling of US Dollar from foreign banks and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The domestic unit that fell by 8 paise at 85.59 in opening session, erased earlier losses and finished positive at 85 40, advancing 11 paise as compared to its previous close.
The Rupee was seen strong because of weak dollar against other world currencies, however, sliding equity market restricted from further rise, dealer informed.
The Rupee recorded days high and low at 85.36 and 85.61 respectively, dealer added.
