Union Budget - 2026-27 - A step towards transforming lives of Divyangjans and Senior Citizens!

The Government of India’s aim of ensuring the welfare of the Divyangjans has always been reflected in its various Schemes and Programs that are -Divyangjans-friendly.

So, the same is too reflected in the Current Budget - 2026-27 too!

Reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment for inclusive growth and Viksit Bharat, the Current Budget - 2026-27 has placed the Divyangjans and Senior Citizens at the centre of a technology-enabled empowerment agenda!

The entrusting of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (A.L.I.M.C.O.) under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities with a pivotal role to expand the access to high-quality assistive technologies and services across the country is a mark of the Government of India’s commitment to transform the lives of the Divyangjans of the Country.

The A.L.I.M.C.O. will supported by the Current Budget through the newly announced Divyang Sahara Yojana in scaling-up the production of high-quality assistive devices, deepening research & development and integrating advanced technologies including Artificial Intelligence into product design and services. It is a clear reflection of the Government of India’s vision and dedication to enable the Divyangjans and Senior Citizens in receiving timely, reliable and affordable access modern assistive solutions.

The mobility aids, low-vision and low-hearing devices, e-Braille readers, smart hearing instruments and cognitive-assistive solutions, among others, tailored to diverse functional needs, etc., are the major assistive products and services encompassed in the portfolio under the Divyang Sahara Yojana.

The Government has also announced the twin initiatives namely - Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana and Divyang Sahara Yojana in the Current Budget - 2026-27. It marks a clear reflection of the Government’s holistic approach aimed at empowering the Divyangjans through both dignified livelihoods and high-quality assistive devices.

The A.L.I.M.C.O. has also embarked on its journey to transform the lives of the Divyangjans and Senior Citizens of the Country that includes digital transformation, modernization and service quality enhancement.

The various Schemes and Programs bring announced by the Government of India perfectly reflects its commitments to transform the lives of the Divyangjans and Senior Citizens by enabling them to be included in the mainstream of the society.
