Situated on the banks of the Mahanadi River, Mahasamund—now a relatively new district—represents the modern form of ancient Shripur, once renowned as the capital of Dakshin Koshal in Chhattisgarh. Known as a serene, vibrant, and content region, Mahasamund is also a city of ancient temples. Today, the expansion of tourism and employment opportunities forms one of its fundamental needs.

On March 31, a national conference of the Rashtriya Hindu Vahini Organization was held here. Organized by the Chhattisgarh state unit of the organization, with active support from local followers of Sanatan Dharma, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from office bearers and representatives arriving from across the country. Even more enthusiastic were the organization’s workers and officials from various parts of Chhattisgarh. The spirit of Mahasamund resembled waves of excitement, as if the sky itself had descended to earth. This vibrancy was reflected in the welcome performances of dance and music by children and adolescents of Chhattisgarh.

Under the banner of the Rashtriya Hindu Vahini, this gathering was essentially a Sanatan congregation, where prominent saints and intellectuals from across the nation came together in large numbers. Among the spiritual leaders were former Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Triloki Swaroopteerth, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri Vishnu Giri Ji Bapu, and Jagadguru Shri Kalki Maharaj Ji, along with many of their disciples.

The intellectual assembly included distinguished nationalist thinkers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, and West Bengal. Key figures present included National President Ramesh Chandra Dwivedi, General Secretary Mayank Dhengula, Dr. Vibha Dwivedi, Acting National President of the Women’s Wing Manju Tiwari, National Publicity Head Mangesh Bhagwat, National General Secretary of the Saints’ Wing Manish Tiwari, National In-charge Krishna Kishore Reddy, National Executive Members Vibha Rani and Rakesh Tiwari, Youth Wing General Secretary Sumit Agrawal, and Eastern Region In-charge Jayprakash Dubey, along with several former Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies.

From the host state of Chhattisgarh, numerous intellectuals and entrepreneurs worked tirelessly to make the conference successful. Prominent among them were State In-charge Sarju Tiwari, State President Rakesh Dwivedi, Vice President Devkaran Markam, Human Rights Cell President Krishna Kumar Chandrakar, General Secretary Jagesh Rai, Organization Minister Devichand Rathi, Treasurer Vijay Kumar Jaiswal, Women’s Wing State President Monika Sharma, Vice President Varsha Dubey, and District President Rajeev Chandrakar of Mahasamund, along with other district officials.

In this conference, saints and nationalist thinkers unanimously emphasized the need to declare India a Sanatan nation and to ensure constitutional protection for Gau Mata (the cow). They urged both the central and state governments to take necessary initiatives in this regard. The former Shankaracharya called upon followers of Sanatan Dharma to unite and formulate long-term strategies to achieve their objectives. He advised them to align their daily lives with cultural values and also shed light on the internal situation of Nepal.

On this occasion, the Mahamandaleshwar urged the awakening of those who have become spiritually dormant, while Kalki Maharaj suggested several important measures to strengthen the roots of Indian culture.

National President Ramesh Chandra Dwivedi stated that the organization was established to reinforce Sanatan Dharma and to unify India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He emphasized their dedication to national service, cow protection, and Sanatan values on a daily basis. Dr. Vibha Dwivedi, the National In-charge of the Women’s Wing, called upon more women—especially youth—to join the organization. National General Secretary Mayank Dhengula highlighted the organization’s efforts toward helping the poor, supporting cow shelters, and renovating ancient temples.

During the event, the organization’s spokesperson announced plans for two upcoming conferences in Shivpuri and Lucknow.

A deeply emotional moment was witnessed when the former Shankaracharya removed the many garlands around his neck and began placing them one by one around the necks of children. The children, adorned with these floral garlands from such a revered spiritual leader, felt immensely joyful and blessed.

Many attendees wondered why Mahasamund had been chosen as the venue for this national conference. In fact, the region of Sirpur has long been known as a centre of learning and teaching. It is evident that participants had come there to learn much in the present context so that they may, in turn, guide and educate followers of Sanatan Dharma across the country in the future-By Harendra Pratap Singh
