Safdarjung Hospital Opens Dedicated Myopia Clinic Amid Rising Eye Problems in Children
Launched on National Myopia Week, the unit will offer early detection, low-dose atropine therapy, myopia-control lenses, and guidance on screen-time management.
Safdarjung Hospital Opened Myopia Care Clinic: Due to changing lifestyles and excessive use of digital devices, myopia (nearsightedness) is rapidly increasing among children and young people these days. In response to this growing problem, a dedicated myopia clinic has been established at Safdarjung Hospital.
The clinic was launched on November 14th, the occasion of National Myopia Week. It was inaugurated by Dr. Charu Bamba (Medical Superintendent). Dr. Anuj Mehta, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, and Dr. Pankaj Ranjan, in-charge of the myopia clinic, were also present.
Why is a Myopia Clinic Needed?
Myopia rates have risen rapidly in the past few years. Children's screen time has increased significantly.
