Mann Expresses Support for Indian Hockey Team After Denial; India Defeats Australia in Historic Win

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not get the approval of the central government to go to Paris, where the Olympics is being organized. According to media reports, CM Bhagwant Mann wanted to go to Paris to support the Indian hockey team in the Olympics. The Indian hockey team has to play its quarter-final match on August 4 and Punjab Chief Minister Mann wanted to go to Paris to watch this match.

Most of the players in the Indian hockey team that went to play in the Paris Olympics are from Punjab. CM Bhagwant Mann wanted to go to Paris to encourage the Indian team. According to sources, the Home Ministry did not permit him to go to Paris citing security reasons.

After not getting permission to go to Paris, CM Bhagwant Mann spoke to Indian hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh over the phone.

In the conversation, CM Mann said, 'I wanted to come (to Paris) to encourage you but I did not get political approval. I was planning to go to watch the quarter-final match but the central government said that I could not go. I will not be able to come there (Paris) but I am with you.'

It is also being said that apart from CM Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawa has also not been allowed to go to America. Actually, Kultar Singh Sandhawa wanted to participate in the conference of MLAs to be held in America from August 4 to August 7, but the central government did not allow him to go abroad.

In the match against Australia, Abhishek and Harmanpreet Singh performed brilliantly from India's side and pushed the opposing team to the backfoot at the beginning of the match. India has played a total of 5 matches so far in the group stage, won three matches, 1 match was drawn and India faced defeat in one match.
