Engineering Students Showcase Talent as ‘Umang-2026’ Literary Fest Concludes in Patna

State-level competitions under Umang-2026 at Government Polytechnic Gulzarbagh witness participation from engineering colleges across Bihar; winners felicitated by Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education

The state-level literary and cultural competitions for engineering college students, organised under the ongoing sports, literary and cultural festival ‘Umang-2026’, concluded today at Government Polytechnic, Gulzarbagh, Patna. Students from various government engineering institutions across the state participated in these events, held under the aegis of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education.

 

During the competitions, engineering students displayed their creative and intellectual abilities across a wide range of categories, including singing, quiz, group discussion, debate, extempore speech, story writing, essay writing, painting and poster making, providing a platform for state-level artistic and literary expression.

 

In the singing competition, Roushan Kumar of Government Engineering College, Gopalganj emerged as the winner. The quiz competition was won by Purushottam Kumar and Utkarsh Kumar of BCE Bhagalpur, while Md. Dilshad Akhtar and Abhinav Anand of SCE Saharsa secured first place in Dumb Charades. In English group discussion, Prarthana from Government Engineering College, Vaishali was declared winner, whereas Vivek Chandra of BCE Bakhtiyarpur topped the English debate competition. The English extempore event was won by Muskan Kumari of Government Engineering College, Gaya.

In story writing (Hindi), Satyam Kumar of Government Engineering College, Banka secured first position, while the English story writing competition was won by Sharda Sharma of LNJPIT, Chapra. The Hindi essay writing competition was topped by Anshu Kumari of Government Engineering College, Nawada, and Mauli Kumari of BPMCE, Madhepura secured first place in English essay writing. In painting, Roushan Kumar of Government Engineering College, Gaya was declared winner, while Ritu Kumari of MIT Muzaffarpur won the poster-making competition.

Following the conclusion of the competitions, all winners were felicitated with certificates and prizes. Notably, these literary and cultural events under ‘Umang-2026’ provided engineering students with a common state-level platform to present their literary, cultural and artistic talents.
