Kathak Ballet ‘Main Bihar Hoon’ Brings State’s Cultural Soul Alive at Bapu Tower Museum

Organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Bapu Tower, the performance by Swati Sinha beautifully narrates Bihar’s history, traditions and spiritual legacy through dance

The grand Kathak ballet "Main Bihar Hoon" was organized on Tuesday at the Bapu Tower Museum under the joint aegis of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Patna, and Bapu Tower. This cultural presentation effectively showcased Bihar's rich cultural heritage, glorious history, and vibrant traditions through the powerful language of dance.

The main performance of the program was given by renowned Kathak dancer Ms. Swati Sinha and her troupe from New Delhi. Through various scenes of Kathak ballet, the grand festival of Chhath Puja, which is Bihar's identity, the ancient centers of knowledge, Nalanda and Vikramshila, and Bihar's cultural consciousness, rich in knowledge, spirituality, and folk traditions, were vividly presented. The rhythm, emotion, and narrative of Kathak on stage enthralled the audience.

ICCR was the special guest at the program. Ms. Sudha Rizvi, Regional Director of the Institute of Arts, Ms. Sudha Rizvi, former IAS officer and renowned Kathak dancer Mrs. Neelam Chaudhary, senior classical singer Mr. Rajiv Sinha, and Senior Deputy Chief Accountant Mr. Ajay Jha graced the occasion.

In her address, Mrs. Neelam Chaudhary highlighted the tradition of Kathak, saying, "Katha Karotisah Kathak," meaning that "that which tells a story is called Kathak." She emphasized that Kathak is not just a dance, but a powerful medium for expressing history, culture, and society.

The program was successfully organized under the direction of Mr. Vinay Kumar, Director of the Bapu Tower Museum. At the end of the program, the audience applauded the artists' excellent performance with thunderous applause.
