President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday took to the skies in the indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter 'Prachand' at the Jaisalmer Air Force Station in Rajasthan — experiencing firsthand the advanced capabilities of one of India's most significant homegrown defence platforms.

Before the sortie, President Murmu was comprehensively briefed by Indian Air Force officials on the Prachand's operational capabilities. The flight, conducted by experienced IAF pilots, showcased the helicopter's agility, advanced features, and combat readiness. Designed specifically for high-altitude operations, the Prachand has significantly bolstered the Indian Air Force's strike capabilities in challenging terrain — making it one of the most strategically important additions to India's indigenous defence arsenal in recent years.

During her visit, the President interacted with senior Air Force officers and expressed appreciation for the scientists, engineers, and personnel who have driven India's indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem forward.

The day's engagements are far from over. President Murmu is scheduled to witness the Indian Air Force's Exercise 'Vayu Shakti' at the Pokhran Field Firing Range later this evening — a high-intensity demonstration featuring frontline fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters conducting coordinated day-to-night combat operations in a showcase of the IAF's integrated operational firepower.
