A newlywed couple's evening walk in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar turned fatal when the wife allegedly orchestrated her husband's murder with the help of her ex-boyfriend and two accomplices, attempting to disguise it as a hit-and-run accident.

Ashish was killed on January 30 while his wife Anju, 23, escaped unhurt and initially claimed they were victims of a vehicle accident. Police have arrested all four accused after investigation revealed the elaborate murder plot.

Initial Story Unravels

Anju told police that an unidentified vehicle hit her and Ashish during their evening walk, and that she was robbed of her gold jewellery. However, investigators grew suspicious when they spotted discrepancies between ground reality and her testimony.

"The cops received information on the night of January 30 around 9 PM that a couple was lying unconscious on the road," said Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan. Ashish was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The case reminded investigators of Meghalaya's honeymoon murder, where Sonam Raghuvanshi had her husband killed during their honeymoon and staged it as an accident.

The Murder Plot

Anju and Ashish married three months ago, but Anju was reportedly unhappy and returned to her hometown soon after the wedding. There, she reconciled with ex-boyfriend Sanju, and the two allegedly planned Ashish's murder.

On January 30, Anju lured Ashish to an isolated road where three attackers—Sanju and accomplices Rocky (Rohit) and Badal (Siddharth)—waited hidden in bushes. They brutally attacked and strangled him before staging the scene as a road accident.

All Four Arrested

Police have arrested Anju, Sanju, Rocky, and Badal. The case has been dubbed "Rajasthan's honeymoon murder."
