VMMC Kicks Off Silver Jubilee Celebrations, Marks 25 Years of Medical Excellence

Curtain raiser unveils year-long events, honours founders and sets stage for grand convocation in November

The Curtain Raiser Ceremony for the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) was held today, marking the commencement of a year-long celebration of 25 years of excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.

 

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. L. G. Krishna, Addl DGHS in the presence of Dr. Kavita Rani Sharma, Director, presided over by Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal, VMMC, and also graced by Dr. Charu Bamba, Medical Superintendent, along with former Principals including the Founder Principal, Dr. Jagdish Prasad, senior faculty, students, and distinguished guests.

A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of former principals, founding members, and retired faculty, acknowledging their invaluable contributions in shaping the institution’s legacy. A symbolic tree plantation drive by the dignitaries reflected the ethos of growth, sustainability, and continuity.

 

The Silver Jubilee Academic Calendar, themed “Celebrating 25 Years with 25 Events,” was unveiled, outlining a series of academic, cultural, and community initiatives planned over the coming year. These include student-led academic fests, expert lecture series on themes such as women in medicine, innovation, and holistic healthcare, as well as community outreach programmes like blood donation drives.

The celebrations will culminate in a grand convocation ceremony in November, featuring the release of a commemorative coffee table book, documentary, plaque, and institutional anthem.

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal, VMMC, in collaboration with the VMMC Alumni Association, the ceremony set the tone for a milestone year, reaffirming VMMC’s continued commitment to excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.
