Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the team behind the successful launch of the Axiom-4 space mission, which includes Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla as the mission pilot.
In a post on X, Modi said, “We welcome the successful launch of the space mission carrying astronauts from India, Hungary, Poland, and the US.”
He noted the historic significance of the moment, highlighting that Shukla is on course to become the first Indian astronaut to reach the International Space Station. “He carries with him the wishes, hopes, and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to the other crew members: mission commander Peggy Whitson, and mission specialists Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski of Poland and Tibor Kapu of Hungary.
