A video has emerged online allegedly featuring Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Qaasim, confirming the destruction of the Markaz Taiba terror training camp in Muridke, Punjab province, during India’s recent Operation Sindoor. The footage undermines Pakistan’s repeated denials about the impact of the Indian strikes.

In the viral video, Qaasim is seen standing amid the rubble of what he claims was once the group’s most important training facility. “I am standing in front of the Markaz Taiba in Muridke... It was destroyed in the attack (during Operation Sindoor). We will rebuild it and make it even bigger,” he declares.

Qaasim goes on to admit that the facility trained a large number of fighters, including Mujahideen and Talaba (students), and pledges to expand its operations despite the setback. “From here, big names in Mujahideen got trained and achieved Faiz (victory),” he says.

This video follows another high-profile confession from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri. In a separate clip, Kashmiri confirmed that India’s strike had obliterated JeM’s Markaz Subhan Allah headquarters in Bahawalpur, and revealed that the family of JeM chief Masood Azhar was killed in the operation.

The back-to-back confirmations from LeT and JeM leaders bolster India’s assertion that the May 7 retaliatory strikes were targeted at genuine terror infrastructure. The operation was carried out in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

Recruitment Drive and Training at Muridke

In another clip, Qaasim is seen urging young men to join the Daura-e-Suffa programme — a LeT initiative that offers basic weapons training and jihadi indoctrination. According to an ANI report, the Markaz Taiba complex was established in 2000 and served as LeT’s primary training centre. It conducted arms drills, physical conditioning, and radicalisation programmes for recruits from both within Pakistan and overseas.

Meanwhile, JeM’s Bahawalpur-based camp, Markaz Subhan Allah, operational since 2015, was the group’s main hub for training and recruitment. The facility has been linked to several high-profile terror plots, including the deadly Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019.
