A SpiceJet flight bound for Kathmandu was forced to return to the bay at Delhi Airport on Thursday following a suspected tailpipe fire, according to a report by news agency PTI. The incident occurred before takeoff, prompting precautionary action from the flight crew.

The flight, SG041, operated by a Boeing 737-8 aircraft, was preparing to depart for Nepal’s capital when another aircraft on the ground reported what appeared to be a tailpipe fire. Although no warning signs or abnormalities were detected in the cockpit, the pilots chose to return the aircraft to the bay as a safety precaution.

In a statement, SpiceJet confirmed that a detailed engineering inspection revealed no issues with the aircraft. “No warnings or indications were observed in the cockpit, but the pilots decided to return as a precautionary safety measure,” the airline said.

Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded, and the flight faced a delay of over four hours. The flight was scheduled to depart in the morning.

The airline has not reported any injuries or technical malfunctions, and the situation was handled without escalation. Safety checks are ongoing as per standard aviation protocol.

SpiceJet said passenger safety remains its top priority and thanked travelers for their patience.
