Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday announced that officials from the United States, Russia, and Ukraine will hold a two-day trilateral meeting in the United Arab Emirates, set to begin on Friday. Speaking after his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelensky said it would be the first such meeting in the UAE. “It will be tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” he told reporters, adding that the Russians “have to be ready for compromises.”

Zelensky also provided an update on a potential ceasefire, saying that the “documents aimed at ending the war” are “nearly ready.” He stressed that Ukraine is working “with full honesty and determination,” and that Russia must also be prepared to end the conflict and stop its aggression.

Earlier on Thursday, Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump, describing the meeting as “productive and substantive.” He said the two leaders discussed the work of their teams, including efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. Zelensky thanked Trump for a previous package of air defense missiles and requested additional support. “Our previous meeting with President Trump helped strengthen the protection of our skies, and I hope this time we will reinforce it further as well,” he said in a post on X.

Trump, in turn, described the one-hour meeting as “good,” adding that the war “has to end” and noting the human toll. “We hope it’s going to end. There are a lot of people being killed,” he said. The US President also called the negotiations “an ongoing process” and emphasised that “everybody wants to have the war end.”
