Deepinder Goyal Steps Down as CEO of Eternal Group, Albinder Dhindsa Named New Group CEO

A major leadership change has been witnessed in the corporate world. Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Eternal Group, has resigned from his position. Goyal himself shared this information on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He stated that, following shareholder approval, he will continue to serve as Vice Chairman on the company's board, while Albinder Dhindsa will become the new Group CEO of Eternal Group.
Zomato is part of Eternal Group. Deepinder Goyal is known to most as the owner of Zomato. Deepinder Goyal's resignation comes at a time when Eternal Group is undergoing expansion and strategic restructuring. During his tenure, Goyal played a key role in strengthening the company, implementing new business strategies, and strengthening the group's presence in the competitive market. Under his leadership, Eternal Group made several key decisions that impacted the company's long-term growth.
Reasons behind stepping down as CEO: Goyal also explained in detail the reasons behind his decision. He stated that recently he wanted to work on some new ideas that involved greater risk, experimentation, and discovery. Such experiments did not fit within the scope of a public company. He clarified that if these ideas were within Eternal's strategic scope, he would pursue them within the company. However, this is not the case. Therefore, it was essential that Eternal remain fully focused and disciplined.
Goyal also acknowledged that the CEO of a public company in India faces the pressure of legal and other responsibilities, which require complete concentration. This is why this change was made.
What will not change?
Deepinder Goyal clarified that this decision is not about distancing himself from the company. He wrote that he has devoted 18 years, almost half his life, to building this company and will remain involved. He stated, "He will continue to play an active role in decisions related to the company's long-term strategy, company culture, leadership development, and ethics and governance." Goyal also assured that Albinder Dhindsa, Akshant, and he would continue to work together as before, and that all business CEOs would enjoy the same autonomy as before.
Why Albinder Dhindsa?
Goyal praised Albinder Dhindsa, writing that Dhindsa played a key role in taking Blinkit from acquisition to breakeven. He strengthened the team, supply chain, culture, and operational systems. According to Goyal, Albinder is a "battle-hardened founder" with strong execution capabilities.
