RCB launches ‘RCB Cares’ programme to support fans after stampede tragedy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) today unveiled the framework of 'RCB Cares', a long-term programme dedicated to supporting, empowering, and elevating its fanbase, the 12th Man Army, in the aftermath of the tragic stampede incident which claimed 11 lives.

The franchise said the initiative underscores its promise to stand by its supporters "through every roar and heartbreak", while also addressing pressing concerns of crowd safety, inclusion, and community empowerment.

As part of the programme, RCB will provide fast, transparent and compassionate support to fans and families impacted by tragedies. The franchise also committed to working closely with stadium authorities, sporting bodies and league partners to build safer, more inclusive environments through stronger crowd management protocols.

‘RCB Cares’ will also empower communities through social development projects already underway in rural Karnataka, beginning with the Siddi community. Additionally, the franchise announced plans to commission independent research on crowd safety, create a fan-safety audit framework, and train on-ground partners annually in crowd management and emergency response.

In a move to permanently honour the contribution of its fans, RCB said it would set up a dedicated space in Bengaluru to celebrate the names, stories and spirit of its most passionate supporters – envisaged as a living tribute to the 12th Man Army.

The programme will further focus on building futures through sport by creating in-stadium jobs, nurturing local talent, and supporting the next generation of sporting professionals.

RCB emphasised that ‘RCB Cares’ is not a one-off gesture but a long-term commitment to its fans, reaffirming their central role in the team’s journey even in the wake of tragedy.
