Aamir Khan Crowned 'Box Office Ka Baap' as Sitaare Zameen Par Shines at the Theatres

Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par has turned out to be a box office success, emerging as a clear winner despite facing stiff competition from new releases like Kajol’s Maa and Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa. The film has not only impressed audiences but also earned Aamir a special title: “Box Office Ka Baap.”
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned an estimated ₹137.80 crore (nett) in India within just 15 days of its release. Globally, the film has crossed the ₹217.50 crore mark. Notably, Sitaare Zameen Par was released exclusively in theatres, with Aamir revealing before its release that the team had chosen to skip OTT platforms altogether.
To celebrate the film’s phenomenal run, multiplex chains PVR INOX Pictures and Cinepolis hosted a special evening attended by exhibitors from across the country. Aamir Khan was present at the event, where he received commemorative mementoes and was honoured with the title “Box Office Ka Baap” in recognition of the film’s success and his enduring star power.
Photos from the event showed Aamir engaging warmly with exhibitors and sharing moments with the team behind the film.
Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan, Aparna Purohit, and Ravi Bhagchandka, is a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. This time, Aamir plays a basketball coach who mentors a team of ten differently-abled youngsters. The film also stars Genelia D’Souza and a talented ensemble of fresh faces including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, and others.
