Aamir Khan Eyeing Crime Thriller Based on Shocking Meghalaya Murder Case: Report

After the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, actor Aamir Khan may already be preparing for his next project — and this time, it could be a chilling crime thriller inspired by real events.
According to a report, Aamir has been closely following the recent Meghalaya murder case, a gruesome story that has captured national attention. A source close to the actor revealed, “Aamir Khan is personally tracking the developments in the Meghalaya case. He’s been discussing the details with his close circle. There’s a possibility that his production house may take up the subject.”
While nothing has been officially confirmed, the report suggests that Aamir is deeply interested in the case and may be considering turning it into a film. It remains unclear whether he plans to produce the film alone or also star in it. The project, however, is still in very early stages, and no cast has been finalized yet.
The real-life case involves a newlywed couple, Sonam and Raja (29), who tied the knot on May 11 in Indore and left for their honeymoon on May 20. Just three days later, they went missing near Sohra, about 65 km from Shillong.
On June 2, Raja’s decomposed body was found in a 200-foot-deep gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Cherrapunji. Authorities revealed he had been hacked to death and thrown into the ravine. Days later, Sonam, who was initially reported missing, was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. During police interrogation, she allegedly confessed to plotting her husband's murder and named four others involved — Kushwaha and three contract killers: Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Akash Rajput. All were later arrested by Indore Police.
If Aamir Khan moves forward with this project, it would mark another socially charged film under his banner — one that explores the dark depths of human behavior through the lens of cinema.
