Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Day 1 Box Office: A Slow Start for Shanaya Kapoor’s Debut

Santosh Singh’s Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which marks the Bollywood debut of Shanaya Kapoor, had a disappointing start at the box office on its opening day. According to Sacnilk.com, the film earned just ₹35 lakh on Friday, failing to cross even the ₹50 lakh mark in India.
With an overall Hindi occupancy of only 9.92%, the film didn’t manage to pull in the crowds. It also opened lower than Vikrant Massey’s previous release, The Sabarmati Report (2024), which collected ₹1.25 crore on day one.
The romantic drama stars Vikrant Massey alongside Shanaya Kapoor, and also features Zain Khan Durrani. Interestingly, Shanaya was initially set to debut with Bedhadak, a project that was eventually shelved.
### Mixed Reviews
Reviews have been lukewarm. The Hindustan Times wrote, “Shanaya Kapoor makes a confident debut, even if her character—or the story—doesn't give her much to work with. Vikrant Massey, usually reliable, is decent but not at his best. His role as a visually-challenged man had potential, but he doesn’t quite land it.”
The review added, "Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan feels like a love letter that never reached its destination. It tries to tug at your heartstrings but ends up playing out of tune."
### About the Film
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is a romantic drama that focuses on the emotional connection between its leads. Produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla, the film is written by Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla, with music composed by Vishal Mishra. It’s presented by Zee Studios and Mini Films.
Despite its poetic premise and debut hype, the film is off to a rough start—and it remains to be seen whether it can pick up momentum over the weekend.
