Abhishek Bachchan Shares Aishwarya Rai’s Wise Advice on Handling Negativity

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have both spent decades in the spotlight. While Aishwarya has taken a step back from films in recent years, Abhishek continues to explore varied roles on screen. In a recent interview, Abhishek opened up about dealing with criticism—and how Aishwarya’s advice has helped him stay grounded.
Known for being sensitive to public opinion, Abhishek admitted he still wants to be liked by everyone. "Yes, I still feel that way," he said, reflecting on an earlier statement about wanting universal approval. "Time teaches you that you can be foolish sometimes. Don’t be so idealistic. But I don’t want to let go of that. The day I say, ‘I can’t make everyone happy, take it or leave it,’ that’s arrogance for an actor. That’s the death of growth. There would be no desire to improve."
He also shared how he handles criticism, saying, "I still pay attention to all the negative reviews. Sadly, human nature focuses more on the negative than the positive." That’s where Aishwarya’s words come in. "She always says, ‘It’s water off a duck’s back. Why are you focusing on the negative? Look at the positive—it far outweighs the rest.’"
Abhishek and Aishwarya’s story goes back to the early 2000s when they met on film sets. It was during the shooting of Guru in 2007 that their relationship truly blossomed. That same year, they got married in a lavish ceremony and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
Despite being public figures, the couple has chosen to keep their personal life private. While rumours of separation have surfaced over the years, they've quietly shut down speculation with united appearances at events—letting their presence speak louder than words.
