Anupam Kher Congratulates Teams of Saiyaara and Tanvi The Great: “One Got Love and Money, the Other Got Love”

Actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher has shared a heartfelt message praising both Tanvi The Great, his latest directorial, and Saiyaara, which released alongside his film last week. In a video posted on Instagram this Friday, Kher reflected on the box office performance and audience reception of both films—highlighting the massive success of Saiyaara and the emotional impact of Tanvi The Great.

“Last week, two films released—Saiyaara and Tanvi The Great,” Anupam said. “Saiyaara, with its magic, won the hearts of the nation. It’s a YRF film, and I’m truly happy it’s doing so well. It’s good for the industry.”

While acknowledging that Saiyaara is performing strongly at the box office, Kher added that Tanvi The Great has also received deep appreciation—if not the same commercial success. “The audience gave Tanvi The Great so much love, and maybe that can’t be measured in money,” he said.

He went on to praise the lead cast of both films. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, who made their debut in Saiyaara, were applauded for their impressive screen presence. Kher also showered praise on newcomer Shubhangi Dutt, who played the lead in Tanvi The Great. “She has won hearts with her acting. She’s here to stay,” he said proudly.

Reflecting on the impact of his film, Anupam emphasized the importance of telling stories like Tanvi The Great, which highlights themes of autism and the Indian Army. “We’ve received so much love, blessings, and support, especially from families of autistic individuals and people who believe in goodness,” he said. “Yes, a film like Saiyaara brings back money to the industry, which gives others the courage to make more films. But courage also lies in making a film like Tanvi The Great.”

He also drew a parallel to his 1984 film Saaransh, recalling how it opened to empty theatres due to riots in Mumbai, but eventually became one of his most iconic roles. “Some films take time, but they leave a lasting mark. Both these films will be remembered for their own beauty,” he said.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Anupam wrote, “A big congratulations to Saiyaara and Tanvi The Great. My relationship with Yash Raj Films is deep and personal, like family. So I wish Adi Chopra, Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday, and Aneet Padda immense success. And I also wish the same to my team, and especially to Shubhangi Dutt, for winning hearts.”

He added, “Good movies always find their place—some through love and money, and others through just love. Once again, love and blessings to all!”
