Apoorva Mukhija speaks out on gender bias at home: ‘My mother did everything, but my father got all the credit for just showing up at PTMs’

Apoorva Mukhija, a content producer, recently shared a touching comment on her mother's often-unacknowledged efforts while talking candidly about her early years and family dynamics. In an interview, Apoorva disclosed that her father received accolades for even the tiniest actions, but her mother's efforts to nurture her and her brother were often overlooked.

“She has been dealt very bad cards since the beginning. Nobody appreciated her, and she did not appreciate herself. But she kept appreciating my dad for every little thing he would do. Like if he came to our PTMs, ‘Oh my god, he is the best father ever because he took out the time,’” Apoorva said.

Behind the scenes, Apoorva explained, it was her mother who handled most of the heavy lifting. “You feed us, you teach us, you work, you send us to school, pick us up from school, you do our homework, you check our exams, you go to our PTMs every single time and now you are like, ‘Oh my god, he has done so much,’” she added.

Despite her mother’s tendency not to value her own hard work, Apoorva was grateful that her mother always encouraged her to know her worth.

Currently, Apoorva is part of the reality show The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar. The show brings together 20 well-known personalities from different backgrounds in a high-stakes game of strategy, trust, and deception as they compete for a large cash prize and the prestigious title.
