‘Baahubali’ Films Removed from Netflix Ahead of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ Theatrical Release

Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli is set to bring his blockbuster saga Baahubali back to cinemas with a reimagined version titled Baahubali: The Epic. The combined edition of Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) is slated for a global theatrical release on October 31, 2025. However, just weeks before the release, fans have noticed that both original films have quietly disappeared from Netflix.

Several users on social media flagged the removal, with many sharing screenshots of the platform showing the message: “Oh no! This title currently isn’t available to watch in your country.” The sudden unavailability of the films has sparked speculation online, with theories ranging from a strategic marketing move to expired streaming rights.

“#Baahubali series removed from Netflix ahead of Epic release!! A marketing strategy?” questioned one user on X (formerly Twitter), while another wrote, “No bro. The rights expired ig. They've been telling us for a month.” Others speculated that the new combined version may be intended to replace the original films on streaming platforms.

About Baahubali: The Epic

Announced earlier this year to mark the 10th anniversary of the Baahubali franchise, Baahubali: The Epic is a special theatrical release that merges both parts into a seamless two-part film. The story follows Shivudu as he uncovers the truth about his heritage and rises to claim his place as the rightful heir to the throne of Mahishmati. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia and will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Announcing the project in July, Rajamouli posted on social media:

“Baahubali…The beginning of many journeys. Countless memories. Endless inspiration. It’s been 10 years. Marking this special milestone with #BaahubaliTheEpic, a two-part combined film.”

The original Baahubali films were massive box-office successes. According to data from Sacnilk, Baahubali: The Beginning earned ₹650 crore worldwide, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion grossed ₹1788.06 crore, making it the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time — behind Dangal and Pushpa 2: The Rule.

As anticipation builds for Baahubali: The Epic, the timing of the films’ removal from Netflix has only added to the buzz. Whether intentional or coincidental, the move has reignited excitement around the franchise’s return to the big screen.
