Bahadurgarh’s Daughter Sakshi Garg Is Preserving Haryana’s Traditional Sanjhi Art

Bharat is a land of rich cultural heritage, where an exuberant variety of traditional and cultural art forms coexist under one roof. In almost every household, one can find some unique form of creativity that reflects the country’s deep cultural roots.

It is truly believed that there are no age barriers to excelling in any art form. Rather, it is an inherent quality or talent that one is born with. Be it young or old, artists across generations display such remarkable mastery of their crafts that it leaves people mesmerised.

One such perfect example of mastery in art is Ms Sakshi Garg, a young, energetic and talented girl hailing from Bahadurgarh district of Haryana. Sakshi has been making a significant contribution to preserving and promoting Haryana’s rich traditional Sanjhi art form.

For her exceptional skills and dedication to this traditional art, Ms Sakshi Garg has been honoured with the State Award by the Government of Haryana.

Working meticulously on extremely thin sheets of paper, Sakshi creates intricate designs with remarkable precision and beauty. Her artworks are truly commendable and reflect extraordinary patience and craftsmanship.

Sakshi underlines that completing a single Sanjhi artwork can take anywhere from around six hours to an entire week. Yet, it is impossible to look at her creations without exclaiming, “Wow! What an incredible piece of art!”

Through her work, Sakshi aspires not only to popularise Sanjhi art across the length and breadth of Bharat, but also to take this traditional art form of Haryana to the global stage.
