Border 2 Hits Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar at the Box Office, Ends ₹1-Crore Daily Run After 50 Days

Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar" was released in December and ruled the box office unchallenged for over a month and a half. However, Sunny Deol's "Border 2" has now begun to upset "Dhurandhar's" fortunes. Riding on positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth, "Border 2" began drawing solid crowds to theaters from day one. Expectations for the film are high, and it has received ample screens in theaters. Consequently, "Dhurandhar's" reign is now fading.
This is the first time in 50 days!
"Dhurandhar" holds the record for the longest run with double-digit collections. The film's earnings remained consistently strong. Despite being released for over a month and a half, it still had a decent number of screens and audiences every day. Even on the leanest days, "Dhurandhar" was consistently collecting at least ₹1 crore daily. But now Ranveer's film is falling short of this target. Trade reports indicate that "Border 2" has received around 4,800 screens, a significant figure. This means "Dhurandhar" now has very few screens left. This is also affecting box office collections. For the first time on its 50th day of release, "Dhurandhar" failed to collect even ₹1 crore. Trade reports indicate that on Friday, "Dhurandhar" barely collected ₹60 lakh.
The ₹900 Crore Landmark Is Missed
"Dhurandhar" star Ranveer Singh is the first non-Khan star to cross new box office landmarks in Bollywood. Every new box office club in Bollywood, from ₹100 crore to ₹600 crore, has been started by Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan's films. However, riding on the triumphant chariot of "Dhurandhar," Ranveer has been the first to break the ₹700 crore and ₹800 crore clubs. Even a month and a half after its release, "Dhurandhar" remained so strong at the box office that it seemed poised to break into the 900 crore club. However, after 50 days, "Dhurandhar"'s total net collection is just shy of 887 crore rupees. Daily collections are now dipping below 1 crore rupees. Fewer screens remain, and collections will continue to decline during working days. From here, reaching 900 crore rupees seems nearly impossible for "Dhurandhar."
