Brick: Twisted German Sci-Fi Thriller Now Streaming on Netflix

The new German sci-fi thriller Brick, starring Matthias Schweighöfer, Ruby O. Fee, Frederick Lau, and Murathan Muslu, is now streaming on Netflix. Released on July 10, the film offers a gripping and mysterious take on isolation and survival.
Directed by Philip Koch, Brick follows a couple who wake up one morning to find their apartment building sealed off by an unexplainable black brick wall. With no exit through the door or windows, they soon realize they're not alone—other neighbors are trapped too. As fear and tension grow, the group must come together to unravel the mystery behind the wall and find a way out.
The trailer hints at an eerie and claustrophobic atmosphere, with scenes showing the characters trying and failing to break through the wall. As they search for answers, the line between psychological and physical barriers begins to blur.
In an interview with Kulture magazine, lead actor Matthias Schweighöfer touched on the film’s deeper meaning, saying, "These are turbulent times we live in. One might ask: Are you really safe if you've built a wall around yourself? And what happens if you tear it down?"
Co-star Ruby O. Fee added, "I think viewers will relate to the feeling of being trapped—in small ways like claustrophobia, or on a larger, more emotional scale, especially given the state of the world."
Brick combines suspense, sci-fi, and social commentary, making it a compelling watch for fans of psychological thrillers.
