Coolie Box Office Day 14: Rajinikanth’s Film Struggles but Still Beats Ponniyin Selvan’s Domestic Collection

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-anticipated film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, hit theaters on August 14. Despite opening alongside Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2, and now in its second week, the movie is struggling to pull in large crowds. Still, it has managed to outperform the domestic box office collection of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part 1.
According to Sacnilk, Coolie earned ₹4.50 crore on its 13th day and ₹3.85 crore on day 14, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹268.75 crore. The film is inching closer to the ₹300 crore mark. Even with mostly single-digit daily earnings now, it has surpassed Ponniyin Selvan Part 1, which made ₹266 crore domestically.
Coolie is now aiming to surpass Vijay’s Leo, which earned ₹341 crore in India and ₹605 crore worldwide. Currently, the top two Tamil films at the box office are Rajinikanth’s 2.0 (₹407.05 crore in India and ₹691 crore worldwide) and Jailer (₹348 crore in India and ₹604.5 crore worldwide).
