Criminal Justice Season 4: Fans of Pankaj Tripathi frustrated as only 3 episodes released on Twitter

Season 4 of Criminal Justice: A Family Matter premiered on JioHotstar on May 29, much to the excitement of fans eagerly awaiting the return of Pankaj Tripathi as advocate Madhav Mishra. However, many viewers have expressed frustration on social media because only the first three episodes are available to stream so far, with new episodes releasing one at a time every Thursday.

Currently, the three released episodes—titled “A Birthday to Remember,” “Buried Secrets,” and “Quid Pro Quo”—have been met with both praise and impatience from the audience. Many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their disappointment over the staggered release schedule.

One user wrote, “It’s absolutely INFURIATING! Waited almost a YEAR for Criminal Justice Season 4, and now @JioHotstar and @ApplauseSocial are dragging it out even more?! Only 3 episodes released and then one episode every Thursday?! This is not how you treat loyal viewers!” Another added, “Started watching Season 4 — the mood was perfectly set. But after just three episodes, I realized… that’s it? What kind of justice system drops just one episode every Thursday? Fans want Criminal Justice, not episodic torture!”

Some fans lamented the broken binge-watching experience. “When all episodes are available, let me know,” said one. Another expressed concern about losing interest, “It’s a crime thriller — how can we wait until Thursday? You’ll forget what you watched.” A fan specifically called out the streaming service, asking, “Why do you always make things difficult for viewers, especially fans of @TripathiiPankaj?”

Despite the frustration around the release schedule, viewers praised the show’s quality. One review noted, “This season dives deep into a disturbing murder mystery involving a teenage girl, exploring dysfunctional family dynamics, media trials, and juvenile justice. The screenplay keeps you hooked with twists that don’t feel forced, and the courtroom sequences are crafted with realism and emotional weight. The tension builds slowly but surely, leading to a satisfying yet thought-provoking climax. Performances are stellar across the board, especially from Tripathi, Swastika Mukherjee, and Purab Kohli.”

Directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Applause Entertainment in partnership with BBC Studios India, Criminal Justice Season 4 will continue releasing new episodes every Thursday on JioHotstar.
