From Superstar in 'Roja' to a Life-Changing Accident, Now the Owner of a 3300 Crore Company; Know the Actor

Starting his career with Mani Ratnam's films at the age of 20, this actor got the opportunity to work with cinema legends right from the beginning. Sharing the screen with big stars like Prabhu Deva, Rajinikanth and Mammootty took his career to new heights. With one hit after another, he became the choice of filmmakers of classic cinema. His two superhit films- 'Roja' and 'Bombay'- were well-received across the country. Despite achieving superstar status early in his career, he said goodbye to the film world at the age of 30 and chose a new path.
Climbing the ladder of success in Tamil cinema, this actor said goodbye to films after reaching the peak of his career and stayed away from the screen for a long time. This actor is none other than Arvind Swamy. In 1991, at the age of just 20, Arvind Swamy made his film debut with Mani Ratnam's 'Thalapathi', in which he played a character inspired by Arjuna of Mahabharata. After this, Mani Ratnam's two big hits 'Roja' (1992) and 'Bombay' (1995) changed his fortunes and made him a star. The success of these films established him as a great actor.
After being a hit in Tamil films, Arvind turned to Bollywood. He made his Bollywood debut with Juhi Chawla in 'Saat Rang Ke Sapne'. Due to his continuous success, it was believed that after Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, he is the biggest actor in this industry, but this did not happen. Arvind Swamy quit acting at the age of 30. By the end of the 90s, his films were not doing well at the box office. Some of his films as a lead actor were shelved, including Mahesh Bhatt's film with Aishwarya Rai and Anupam Kher's directorial with Amitabh Bachchan. The matter did not stop here, two of his films took several years to complete.
Discouraged by this direction of his career, Arvind Swamy stopped acting in films after the year 2000. He started focusing on his father's business. He worked at V D Swamy & Co. and later also worked at Interpro Global. In the year 2005, he had an accident due to which his leg became paralyzed. The treatment took about 4-5 years and he had to suffer for a long time. Even after this, he did not give up and in 2005 he founded his most successful business to date. Just before his injury, Swamy founded Talent Maximus, a company engaged in payroll processing and temporary staffing in India. According to several market tracking portals like Rocketreach, Talent Maximus had a revenue of $418 million (Rs 3300 crore) in 2022.
The whole game changed in 2013 when Mani Ratna convinced him to his project 'Cuddle'. Arvind Swami could not refuse his mentor and after many years he returned to films again. Since then, he started doing many different roles. In the second innings, he did not get the success that he got at the beginning of his career. In the year 2021, he also made a comeback in Bollywood, when he played the role of MG Ramachandran opposite Kangana Ranaut in the Tamil-Hindi film 'Thalaivi'. Swami also made his directorial debut in 2021 with the Netflix anthology Navarasa Stories. By the way, he is still focusing full time on his business.
