This is Karan Johar's film Takht. There was a lot of discussion about this mega-budget film even before the shooting started. Actors like Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor were to be cast in the lead roles in this film.

Reportedly, the story was based on Shah Jahan's two sons - Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh. It was going to be a big period drama film, which would show the fight for the Mughal throne.

It was considered Karan Johar's passion project. The release date of Takht was also decided. Takht was to be released on December 24, 2021, but the cameras could not roll for the project. Many reasons have been given behind the closure of Takht.

One reason for this is the postponement due to COVID-19. The second reason is the criticism of Karan Johar regarding nepotism. Takht had star kids like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. Let us tell you that Takht was announced by Karan Johar in the year 2018.
