Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan head to Delhi to attend funeral of Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur

Industrialist Sunjay Kapur, ex-husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away in London on June 12 at the age of 53 after suffering a heart attack while playing polo. His funeral is scheduled for today in New Delhi, with a prayer meeting to be held in his memory on June 22. On Thursday, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan were seen at Mumbai’s private airport as they left to attend the funeral.

In a video shared by a paparazzi account on Instagram, Kareena was seen stepping out of her car and entering the airport, with Saif walking alongside her. Both wore white outfits and were accompanied by security.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Karisma Kapoor was also spotted leaving the private airport for Delhi, accompanied by her children, Samaira and Kiaan. This was Karisma’s first public appearance since the news of Sunjay Kapur’s passing.

According to an NDTV report, Sunjay Kapur’s last rites will take place at 5 pm at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. A prayer meeting will be held on June 22 between 4 pm and 5 pm at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi, as per a note circulating on social media.

Sunjay married Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple had two children, Samaira (19) and Kiaan (13). They filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014, which was finalized in 2016.

On June 12, Sunjay died during a polo match in England. His friend and business associate Suhel Seth told ANI that Sunjay suffered a heart attack, reportedly after swallowing a bee during the match. His company, Sona Comstar, confirmed the cause as a heart attack but did not provide further details. An official statement on the exact cause of death has yet to be released.
