Kartik Aaryan Celebrates Best Actor Win: ‘Won Both Critics and Popular Awards’

Kartik Aaryan is on cloud nine after a remarkable 2024. The actor took on two completely different roles this year — first as a real-life hero in the biographical sports drama Chandu Champion, and then as the quirky Rooh Baba in the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both critics and audiences alike, his performances struck a chord, earning him a rare double win at the Zee Cine Awards: Best Actor (Critics) for Chandu Champion and Best Actor (Popular) for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. It’s a proud and emotional moment for Kartik, the one that marks a major milestone in his career.
Over the weekend, Kartik took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his joy with fans, posting a series of photos proudly showing off his two trophies. In one of them, he can be seen smiling with the awards in front of him.
“Samajh rahe ho na!! Critics aur Popular dono jeet gaya ❤️ A rare moment in an actor’s life 🙏 Critics Best Actor – Chandu Champion, Popular Best Actor – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. 2024 – A year to remember. #Gratitude,” he wrote in his caption, thanking Zee Cine Awards for the recognition.
Kartik also brought energy to the awards night with a performance on a hit track from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and teamed up with Ananya Panday for a lively stage act.
Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan, marked Kartik’s first collaboration with the filmmaker. It brings to screen the inspiring story of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist. Born in 1944 in Maharashtra, Petkar’s journey begins from excelling in wrestling and hockey to overcoming immense odds and achieving sporting glory which is one of true grit and determination. Bringing the real-life hero’s story to life in a powerful performance, Kartik Aaryan stepped into the role with heart and sincerity.
Kartik reprised his much-loved role as Rooh Baba, in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, returning with his signature charm and comic timing. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film boasted an impressive ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Released during the festive Diwali season, the horror-comedy clashed with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again — and came out on top at the box office.
Up next, Kartik is set to return to the big screen in Aashiqui 3, a romantic musical where he stars opposite Sreeleela. The film has already wrapped up production and is expected to hit theatres in October.
