Madhuri Dixit’s Sons Felt Weird Watching Her Drug Scene, Says Dr Nene; Actress Not Comfortable Showing Family Her Films

Madhuri Dixit surprised many when she stepped away from the film industry at the height of her career after marrying Dr. Sriram Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon based in Los Angeles, in 1999. She eventually returned to Mumbai to revive her acting career, and Dr. Nene followed her back in 2011. Over the years, they’ve shared insights into the challenges of relocating and adjusting to such significant changes. They now have two sons, Arin and Ryan, who are both in college. In an old interview with NDTV, Madhuri revealed how difficult it was for her when she first moved to the U.S.

She recalled, “Indians are everywhere. Some of them would recognize me when I went grocery shopping. Sometimes, you’d run into someone at the store picking up tomatoes and cauliflower, and they’d tell me how much they loved my movies. They were really respectful of my privacy. But there were times it felt a little scary, especially when I just started driving. I had no experience finding addresses, because in India, I’d always had a driver. Over there, I had to figure things out on my own. Those were the moments when I would wish someone would recognize me and guide me if I was headed in the wrong direction.”
