“Negative news sells”: Abhishek Bachchan responds to trolls, explains why he avoids clearing up rumors about himself and his family

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has often been in the public eye, not just for his films but also for his personal life. Recently, rumors have been swirling about a possible separation between him and his wife, actress Aishwarya Rai. While the couple has stayed quiet on the matter, Abhishek opened up in an interview with Etimes about how such false information affects him and his family—and why he chooses not to respond publicly.
Abhishek explained that the people spreading misinformation aren’t really interested in hearing his side of the story. He said, “Before, what was said about me didn’t bother me. But now, I have a family, and it’s painful. Even if I clarify, people will twist it because negative news sells. These people don’t live my life or answer to the people I do. Those who spread negativity have to live with their conscience and answer to their maker.”
He also shared a story about how a troll once left a nasty comment on one of his posts, which hurt his friend Sikander Kher. Sikander responded by sharing his address and challenging the troll to say it to his face. Abhishek added, “It’s easy to sit behind a computer screen and say hurtful things. You realize you’re hurting someone. No matter how thick-skinned a person is, it affects them. How would you like it if someone did that to you? If you’re going to say it online, I dare you to say it to my face. Someone who can say it to me directly has conviction, and I’ll respect that.”
On the work front, Abhishek is gearing up for his upcoming movie Kaalidhar Laapata, where he plays a middle-aged man who leaves his family after feeling betrayed and tries to start life anew. The film, also starring Daivik Bhagela and Zeeshan Ayyub, will premiere on ZEE5 on July 4.
He also has Siddharth Anand’s King in the works, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The film reportedly features Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla, Jaideep Ahlawat, and big names like Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Rani Mukerji, though the official cast announcement is still pending. The movie is currently in production.
