Priyanka Chopra ‘deeply shaken’ by Shefali Jariwala’s passing, extends heartfelt condolences to Parag Tyagi and family: ‘Gone too soon’

Actor Shefali Jariwala’s sudden death has left the film and television industry in deep shock. The 42-year-old reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest on the night of Friday, June 27, and was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. Tragically, she was declared dead on arrival.

Her last rites were held the next day, Saturday, in Mumbai, where several celebrities from the industry came to pay their final respects. Singers Mika Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan, along with Shefali's Bigg Boss 13 co-stars Shehnaaz Gill, Mahira Sharma, Paras Chhabra, Hindustani Bhau, Arti Singh, and Rashami Desai, were seen attending the funeral.

A heartbreaking scene unfolded at the Oshiwara crematorium as Shefali’s mother was seen inconsolable, with her father trying to hold back his own tears while supporting the family. A video from her asthi visarjan also surfaced online, showing Parag Tyagi visibly shattered as he carried her ashes to the sea.

On Sunday, global icon Priyanka Chopra also paid tribute to Shefali through Instagram Stories. Sharing a picture of the late actress, she wrote, “So shook. She was too young. Sending condolences to Parag and family.” The two had shared screen space in the 2004 film *Mujhse Shaadi Karogi*, which also starred Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Meanwhile, actor Varun Dhawan called out the media for their insensitive coverage of Shefali’s death. In a strongly worded post, he wrote, “Again, one more passing of a soul being insensitively covered by the media. I just don't understand why you have to cover someone's grief. Everyone looks so uncomfortable with this. How is this benefiting anyone? My request to my friends in the media — this isn't the way someone would want their final journey covered.”

While an initial report pointed to cardiac arrest, the Mumbai Police have sent Shefali’s body for a post-mortem, and the official cause of death has been marked as "reserved" for now.
