Rajinikanth and Dhanush Receive Bomb Threats Found to Be Hoax

On Monday, October 27, a series of alarming bomb threats were sent via email to the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police (DGP), claiming that explosives had been placed at the residences of popular actors Rajinikanth and Dhanush, as well as Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Sevalperunthagai. The email was immediately forwarded to the Greater Chennai City Police, prompting swift action by law enforcement. According to a report by The Hindu, investigations later confirmed that the threats were a hoax.
Following the alert, police teams, including the bomb detection and disposal squad, were dispatched to the residences of the individuals mentioned in the email. The Teynampet police reached Rajinikanth’s house and carried out a thorough security check. However, the actor’s security personnel confirmed that no unidentified individuals had entered the premises and that no suspicious activity had taken place. After an extensive inspection, the authorities concluded that the email was part of a series of false alarms. The residences of Dhanush and Sevalperunthagai were also searched, and no explosives were found at either location.
This incident adds to a growing list of hoax bomb threats targeting prominent personalities in Tamil Nadu throughout October. Earlier in the month, on October 2, similar emails were sent to the DGP’s office, claiming that bombs had been planted at the homes and offices of several VIPs. Among those targeted were actor Trisha Krishnan, whose residence in Teynampet was inspected, and politician S Ve Shekher, whose house in Mandaveli was also checked. None of these threats turned out to be genuine.
A week later, on October 9, the police arrested a 37-year-old man named Shabik for allegedly calling the police control room and falsely claiming that a bomb had been placed at actor Vijay’s Neelankarai residence. Just a few days after that, on October 14, music composer Ilaiyaraaja’s T Nagar studio was the subject of another hoax threat. Each of these incidents led to immediate investigations and searches, but all were eventually deemed false alarms.
The increasing frequency of such hoax threats has raised concerns among both authorities and the public. The police have been working to trace the origins of these fake messages, as they not only cause panic but also waste critical resources and time. Officials have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth continues to focus on his film commitments. The veteran actor was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie and is currently shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2. He is also set to appear alongside Kamal Haasan in an upcoming project. Dhanush, on the other hand, was last seen in Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa and his self-directed film Idli Kadai. He is now preparing for his next venture with Aanand L Rai titled Tere Ishk Mein. Despite the unsettling nature of the hoax threats, both actors have continued their work schedules uninterrupted while police tighten security measures around their residences.
