Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Bhool Chuk Maaf to Skip Theatres, Set for OTT Release on This Date

With tensions rising between India and Pakistan and tighter security measures in place across the country, the makers of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, have decided to skip its theatrical release and head straight to OTT.

The film, which was earlier set to hit theatres on May 9, will now premiere on Prime Video on May 16.

Makers Prioritise Safety

On Thursday, the production houses Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios released a joint statement confirming the change. “In light of recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16—only on Prime Video, worldwide,” the statement read.

“While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating this film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind,” it added.

As part of the shift, press screenings in Delhi and Mumbai scheduled for Thursday have also been called off.

Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf is set in the vibrant city of Varanasi. It follows the story of Ranjan, played by Rajkummar Rao, who is counting down the days to his wedding with his girlfriend Titli, played by Wamiqa Gabbi. But there’s a twist—Ranjan finds himself stuck in a time loop, waking up every day on the morning of his Haldi ceremony.

The film also stars Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, and Raghubir Yadav, and is backed by Maddock Films.

With its heartfelt humor and a time-bending twist, Bhool Chuk Maaf now aims to win hearts straight from the screen to your living room.
