Rejected Karan Johar’s films, blacklisted in Bollywood, not a star kid, yet Siddhant Chaturvedi became a hero on his own

Siddhant Chaturvedi won the hearts of the people with his strong acting in the 'Inside Edge' series and films like 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan', 'Gully Boy' and 'Gahraiyan' and became a star. Born on 29 April 1993 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Siddhant has made a special place in Bollywood on his own. Despite being an outsider in Bollywood, he is giving tough competition to star kids. Not only this, Siddhant had rejected Karan Johar's offer not 1 but 2 times before starting his career. After this, he worked hard and became a star in Bollywood on his own.
Siddhant moved to Mumbai with his family when he was just 5 years old. While studying at Mithibai College, he started acting in theater and plays. After winning a popular Fresh Face contest, Siddhant decided to leave his final CA exam for a film audition. He even passed the audition for Karan Johar's Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukherjee and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, but he turned down the opportunity after his father's advice. He was also offered a three-film deal with Johar's Dharma Productions which Siddhant declined.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay last year, Siddhant shared how his father suggested him not to sign Brahmastra. Siddhant explains, 'They were still writing the script and I was excited. I could have done it too, but my father didn't let me do it. He said you are better than this. He still pushes me forward. I was happy that I would get a three-film contract with Dharma. I met Ayan who showed me his vision about Brahmastra. I had only done a few ads till then so I was nothing. I told my father that the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and he asked me, 'So who will look at you?' He said, 'No, I don't think you should do it. Do you have a script? Have you auditioned for it? Don't sell your luck if you don't even know what you are going to do in that film.'
Siddhant further said that he was blacklisted from Bollywood after rejecting many films. 'The problem was not that I didn't have any offers, but I knew that I only wanted to be a hero, play lead roles. I would act, I have worked hard on my art, but I wanted to make a big splash. I was shortlisted for many films, which I turned down saying that I don't think it can do justice to what I think. I was blacklisted, because people thought, 'Who is this person saying no?' I refused to play side roles because I knew I had a lot of potential. I didn't want to sell myself short.'
In 2019, Siddhant made his Bollywood debut with Zoya Akhtar's film 'Gully Boy'. In which he played the role of rapper MC Sher. His strong performance won him several awards and also won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Along with this, Siddhant also won the Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut and the Screen Award for Best Male Debut. The 2019 musical drama inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy grossed around Rs 250 crore worldwide. After refusing to work with Karan Johar in Brahmastra, Siddhant will next be seen in the romantic drama 'Dhadak 2', produced by Johar's Dharma Productions. Tripti Dimri will be seen in the lead role alongside Siddhant in this film. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 Dhadak, starring Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor.
