Earlier on Wednesday, five accused were produced before a special court under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). Suspecting the involvement of an organized crime network in the attack, the Mumbai Police invoked sections of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). The court remanded all five accused to police custody until February 17.
During the hearing, the police informed the court that responsibility for the incident was claimed through a social media post. The investigation revealed that the accused communicated with each other through the Signal app to keep their conversations confidential. Police are now attempting to recover deleted chats, which are believed to be linked to Shubham Lonkar.
The Mumbai Crime Branch investigation has revealed that the accused, Asaram Fasale, had allegedly been working for the Bishnoi gang for the past four years and was a garage mechanic by profession. According to the police, he joined the gang under the influence of Shubham Lonkar, who is said to be the mastermind behind the Baba Siddiqui murder case and the Rohit Shetty shooting.
Investigating agencies claim that, on Lonkar's instructions, the accused were provided with weapons, which were later used by the unidentified shooter in the crime.
