Son of Sardaar 2 trailer: Ajay Devgn returns to comedy with new romance in Scotland

Ajay Devgn is back in the comedy game with Son of Sardaar 2, and the trailer dropped on Friday has fans buzzing. This time, Mrunal Thakur steps in as the new leading lady, joining Ajay for what promises to be a fun ride full of laughs and chaos.

The film’s trailer was unveiled with a big event in Mumbai. Unlike the first movie, which was set in Punjab, this sequel takes us to Scotland. The trailer kicks off with a hilarious question: “Will he survive Scotland?” and sets the tone with a quirky scene where Ajay’s character watches an older woman—whom he calls ‘bebe’—pole dance before she suddenly collapses. It’s clear this movie is packed with comedic misadventures.

The trailer introduces several colorful characters tangled in the love story between Ajay and Mrunal, as they work to get someone close to them married. Expect plenty of action, drama, and comedy along the way. Ajay also throws in a sharp line about Pakistan, saying they drop “bombs in our country,” adding a bit of patriotic spice. The trailer features appearances from Mukul Dev (in his final role), Vindu Dara Singh, Ravi Kishan, and Kubbra Sait.

Fans will notice some classic one-liners from the first film, like “Just Joking” and “Kadi Hass Bhi Liya Karo,” bringing a wave of nostalgia.

Reactions to the trailer were mixed. Some fans missed Sonakshi Sinha, the original female lead, questioning the new pairing’s chemistry. Comments ranged from “Nothing beats the first part” to “Why replace Sonakshi? Without her, the film feels incomplete.” Others called out the movie for being forced and not funny, saying sequels like this “need a license.”

But not all was critical—many were happy to see Ajay Devgn back in a comedy role, with some calling it a “blast of nostalgia” and praising the fiery dialogues.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 also stars Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Vindu Dara Singh, and the late Mukul Dev. The film is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under Jio Studios and Devgn Films, with a release date set for July 25.

Unlike typical sequels, the makers say this one starts fresh, not continuing directly from where the first ended.

For context, the original Son of Sardaar came out in 2012, starring Ajay Devgn alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Juhi Chawla, with a special appearance by Salman Khan. It released alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and did well at the box office.
