Twinkle Khanna Says She Argued with Akshay Kumar Over ‘Fighting with Vicky Kaushal’ About "Operation Sindoor" Film

After Uttam Maheshwari announced, and later apologized for, his film "Operation Sindoor", Twinkle Khanna opened up about why she had a conversation with her husband, actor Akshay Kumar, about it. In her column for the Times of India, Twinkle explained that she had come across tweets claiming Akshay was in a heated argument with actor Vicky Kaushal over the movie.

Twinkle shared that she confronted Akshay about the rumors, and he quickly clarified that it was all fake news. "I can test paneer with an iodine solution — but what's the litmus test for truth?" she wrote. "I read a bunch of tweets and immediately called the man of the house to argue. 'I just saw that you’re fighting with Vicky Kaushal over who gets to make the *Operation Sindoor* movie.' He sighed and said, ‘It’s fake news, and my leg is on fire, so I’ll call you later.’ He needs to come up with better excuses if he just wants to hang up on me!"

Later, when Akshay returned home with a bandaged calf, Twinkle realized he was telling the truth about being injured on set. "Apparently, his leg was really on fire for a scene," she added. "These days, it’s so hard to figure out what’s real. I find myself looking at every piece of information with suspicion."

The drama started after Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer announced *Operation Sindoor*, a film about India’s counter-terrorism operation against Pakistan in May. The poster featured a female soldier applying sindoor (vermilion) to her forehead while holding a rifle. It also showcased explosions, fire tanks, and fighter jets.

Soon after the announcement, Uttam Maheshwari apologized for causing any offense, explaining that his intention was never to hurt anyone’s sentiments. He clarified that he wanted to direct the film not for fame or profit, but because he was moved by the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers. The movie is inspired by India’s response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April, in which several terrorists were neutralized in a military operation on May 6 and 7.
