Veteran Actor Dharmendra Stable, Family Urges Privacy Amid False Health Reports

Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra, 89, has been on ventilator support since November 10, according to sources close to his family. The actor, who was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on November 1 after complaining of respiratory issues, continues to remain under close medical supervision.

As speculation and false reports about his health flooded social media, his daughter and actor Esha Deol issued a strong statement urging restraint and respect for the family’s privacy. “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery,” she wrote.

Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress Hema Malini also condemned sections of the media for spreading misinformation. Expressing her disappointment on X, she said, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please respect the family and our need for privacy.”

Earlier, a statement from Sunny Deol’s team confirmed that Dharmendra was “stable and under observation” and requested people to refrain from circulating unverified information. “Further updates will be shared when available. We urge everyone to respect the family’s privacy and continue praying for his speedy recovery,” the statement read.

Several film industry colleagues and friends visited the ailing star at the hospital, including Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan, Salman Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel, reflecting the immense respect and affection Dharmendra commands across generations of actors and fans.

Widely celebrated as Bollywood’s ‘He-Man’, Dharmendra remains one of Indian cinema’s most beloved and enduring icons. In a career spanning over six decades, he has delivered memorable performances in timeless classics such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Dream Girl.

Dharmendra was last seen on screen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His next appearance will be in Ikkis, featuring Agastya Nanda, slated for release on December 25. Fans, co-stars, and admirers across the world continue to send heartfelt messages and prayers for the veteran actor’s recovery and good health.
