Vikrant Massey calls playing Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in White a challenging role

Actor Vikrant Massey has revealed that he's both honoured and anxious about portraying spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the upcoming biopic White. Speaking to PTI, the 12th Fail star called it a daunting role, not just because of the stature of the figure he's portraying, but also due to how little is widely known about Ravi Shankar’s work for global peace.
“To play Gurudev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, is a daunting task. I’m very nervous. His life is phenomenal, but it’s also unfortunate that many people don’t know about his contributions — not just through The Art of Living, but his philanthropic efforts and peace-building around the world,” Massey said.
“He’s a living legend. I just hope I can do justice to the role,” he added.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is expected to go on floors in August.
Massey is also gearing up for a new OTT series produced by acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, which will explore cybercrime. The show will also star Arshad Warsi.
The actor shared that Hirani played a key role in shaping his career: “I owe him a lot. Not many people know this, but I got 12th Fail because of him. He recommended me to Vinod sir, saying I’d be a good fit for the role of Manoj Kumar Sharma.”
Though Hirani is not directing the series himself, Massey said he learned a great deal from him during script readings and conversations on set. “Much of what I am today as an actor — and even how I navigate the industry — is because of his guidance.”
Massey was last seen in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, opposite debutant Shanaya Kapoor.
