First indigenous cervical cancer vaccine to be launched in India today
India will get its first cervical cancer vaccine on Thursday. The vaccine is expected to make treatment easier for patients. The vaccine will be launched by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and the Ministry of Biotechnology, Government of India on September 1, 2022. On July 12, the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) granted marketing authorization for the vaccine. - This is the first quadrivalent HPV vaccination for cervical cancer developed in India. - The Serum Institute of India will manufacture this vaccine (SII).
