IAS / IPS OFFICER:Respect to elderly people but command in the young hands !

Rajasthan state holds an interesting distinction between its administration and police force. While on one hand, the administration of the state is in the hands of the ‘young', the command of the police force is the responsibility of the ‘aged.' On the age front, the administration of the state is ‘young', so experience and age have been given preference in commanding the police force. The administrative command of most of the districts is in young hands whereas in the police department, the situation is opposite. The age analysis of district collectors and superintendents of police of the state reveals that 21 of Rajasthan's Collectors are below 40 years of age. Of these, 12 District Collectors are below 35 years of age. While most of the SPs, who look after the law and security of the districts, have crossed the age of 40. More interestingly, in 15 districts, the police chief is nearing the retirement age (above 50 years). Jodhpur and Jaipur Police Commissioner's age is also over 50. At the same time, except the Udaipur Inspector General of Police, all the six IGs are older than 50 years. Except for the Bikaner Divisional Commissioner, Neeraj K Pawan, all the remaining six divisional commissioners are near retirement. Each one of them is 58+. The educational qualifications of the Collectors vis-à-vis SPs also throws up some interesting facts. Out of the 23 Collectors/SPs of the state, 20 are qualified engineers. These are Collectors and SPs of the following cities - Bhilwara, Nagaur, Ajmer, Sikar, Banswara, Jodhpur, Dausa, Chittorgarh, Bharatpur and Rajsamand, Nagaur, Bikaner, Sirohi, Ajmer, Karauli, Banswara, Jhalawar, Bharatpur, Jaipur Rural, and Udaipur. The Pratapgarh SP became Collector after studying medicine. Collector-SPs of Jaipur, Karauli and Barmer are Post Graduates in Management. Pali SP has an MB (Marketing) degree while the Sikar SP has a Master's Degree in Police Management. SPs of Nagaur, Sriganganagar, Sawai Madhopur and Alwar are also law graduates. The Bikaner and Jalore Collectors have also done LLB. Pali Collector is a CA by education. Some interesting facts – – 12 collectors under 35 – 9 collectors under 40 – 13 SP and 2 Police Commissioner 50 par – 10-10 Collector-SP Engineer also – 11 from Collectorate Arts Backround – 7 PG in SP Arts – 04 SP and 02 Collector LLB – 03 Collector MBA degree holder – 02 PG in SP Management – 02 Collector and 01 SP Doctor. Youth Are Leading from the Front Going by the survey results, the Rajasthan bureaucracy is in good hands as the young are driving the power here, which is a positive sign. While Senior police officers are also showing their efficiency and experience in the given tasks, the young are being given more opportunities resulting in better outcomes. LN Soni, retired IAS
