IIMC study finds PM's Mann Ki Baat programme played significant role in introducing real Bharat to countrymen

According to special research by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), 76% of Indian media professionals say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's well-known radio programme "Mann Ki Baat" has been crucial in introducing the people of India to their true nation. The public lives now better conscious of and has begun to appreciate the things in different parts of the country as a result of the initiative. 'Mann Ki Baat' has, in the opinion of 75% of respondents, become a platform that highlights grassroots innovators striving to make a major distinction in the lives of those living in rural India.

Between April 12 and April 25, 2023, the Outreach Department conducted a study with 890 participants from 116 media outlets, academic institutions, and universities. 66% of respondents were between the ages of 18 and 25, with 326 women and 564 men.

The two main factors that encourage respondents to listen to the broadcast, in their opinion, are "Knowledge about the Country" and "PM's Vision about the Country." When asked how they catch up on the show if they miss an episode, 63% of the respondents answered they prefer YouTube to other platforms. 76% of respondents believe that by following PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' discussions of various problems, they are participating in the democratic process.

Prof. Dwivedi emphasised that the study also sought to determine which topic covered by the Prime Minister in "Mann Ki Baat" had the most impact on the populace. Education was cited as a greatly significant topic by 40% of respondents, while knowledge about grassroots innovators was cited by 26%.

The study also attempted to determine with whom people debate the subjects covered in "Mann Ki Baat." When asked, 32% of respondents indicated they talk about the topics covered in the show with their families, while 29% said they do the same with friends and coworkers. Another intriguing finding from the study was that 37% of people use Internet-based platforms, 12% use radio and 15% use television to listen to "Mann Ki Baat."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat' will complete its 100th edition on April 30 (Sunday). PM Modi addresses the nation through this radio programme on the last Sunday of every month.

The radio program was started on the occasion of Vijayadashami on October 3, 2014, and is broadcast in 22 Indian languages, 29 dialects, and 11 international languages through multiple platforms
