17-Year-Old School Girl Robbed at Knife-Point by Four Masked Men in Shillong

In yet another case of rising atrocities on girls in the Meghalaya capital, a 17-year-old school girl was left traumatized after being robbed at knife-point by four masked men here this afternoon.

The men, whom police were trying to identify, let off the victim after robbing her of Rs 300 from her bag.

“We are still in the process of identifying the four perpetrators and investigation is on,” Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, told UNI.

The student was returning home from school when the four men accosted her at knife-point and forcibly searched the girl’s school bag and pockets before taking away cash.

“These men held the knife to my neck and thereafter, I was in a state of shock following,” the victim said.

“I came back to my senses only after two hours and then walked to my grandmother’s store and narrated her of the incident,” she added.

Immediately, the family members of the school girl lodged a FIR with the police. The girl was taken to Civil Hospital, Shillong, for medical examination and released after first aid.

Police have registered a case, visited the site, and are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the culprits.
