25-Year-Old Man Dies After Falling into Open Pit in Delhi’s Janakpuri, Family Alleges Police Negligence

25-year-old Kamal died after falling into an open pit in the Janakpuri area of Delhi. His entire family is in shock. Meanwhile, Kamal's friend has leveled serious allegations against the police. Kamal worked at an HDFC Bank call center in Rohini Sector 10 and was returning home on his Apache bike at night. According to his friend, his last conversation took place at night when he had reached the Janakpuri District Center, a mere 15-minute drive from his home.

"He hasn't arrived yet, he's not picking up the phone."

Kamal's friend said, "I last spoke to him at night. He had reached the District Center and said he was on his way. But an hour passed and he still hadn't returned home. We called repeatedly, but there was no response. His bike was nowhere to be seen. Worried, we went to the District Center and searched everywhere, but found nothing."

"The police said the complaint would be registered after 11 a.m."

Distressed, they went to the police station, but were disappointed there too. The friend said, "When we arrived at the police station, we were told the complaint would only be registered after 11 a.m. We didn't get any help that night. The police simply told us to look within a 200-meter radius of the mobile location. Seven of us wandered the street from 12 a.m. until 7 a.m., searching every corner, but couldn't find Kamal."

"Checked the ditch, but he wasn't there."

The friend says they were searching for Kamal on the same street all night. They even looked in the ditch at 1 a.m., but found nothing there. They had just returned home at 7 a.m. when they received a call from the police on Kamal's phone. They said he was in the ditch. Now the question is, 'Why wasn't the phone traced at night? We kept checking repeatedly, so how did he get there? I don't understand.'

Murder suspected

Anger and grief-stricken, the friend continued, "Now barricades have been put up around the pit, and police are deployed, but why didn't this happen earlier? If help had arrived in time at night, Kamal might have been saved. What about his parents? We still haven't been able to tell his mother. He was only 25 years old, and he worked so hard?"
